Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, commonly known as EMDR is a mental health therapy method.

EMDR therapy helps you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.

This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories.

Your brain stores trauma memories in a way that doesn’t allow for healthy healing. EMDR therapy allows your brain to resume a natural healing process.

EMDR therapy works by changing how your traumatic memories are stored in your brain.

An EMDR therapist does this by leading you through a series of bilateral (side-to-side) eye movements as you recall traumatic or triggering experiences in small segments, until those memories no longer cause distress.

Now the question is, is EMDR therapy helpful in weight loss as well?

The answer is yes. EMDR therapy can help you lose weight by reducing your trauma induced overeating.

Trauma induced overeating, also called emotional eating, occurs when you eat unnecessarily to cope with certain traumatic memories

EMDR therapy is an effective technique for treating trauma-induced binge-eating, which is a major cause of weight gain in some people.

But remember, you need to find an EMDR trained clinicians

EMDR may be particularly helpful when treatments, like talk therapy and medication, prove less than effective or lead to unwanted side effects.
