Key Point: After 40 years of selling pre-made meals and coaching sessions, Jenny Craig has gone bankrupt and closed its business. ๐Ÿ˜ข Is that mean diet culture is dead? ๐Ÿค”

Did you know that weight loss is a multi-billion dollar industry? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Well, it seems like one of its giants has just fallen. Jenny Craig, the company that offers pre-made meals and coaching sessions to help people slim down, has recently filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. ๐Ÿ˜ข

The company was founded by American entrepreneur Jenny Craig in the 1970s and had many celebrity endorsers over the years. But it faced increasing competition from free apps, new drugs and wellness brands that claimed to offer more than just weight loss. ๐Ÿ˜•

Some experts say that Jenny Craigโ€™s demise is a win for those who are pushing back against diet culture, which promotes unrealistic and unhealthy standards of beauty and health. ๐Ÿ™Œ They argue that restrictive diets can harm our physical and mental wellbeing, and that we should focus on nourishing our bodies and appreciating them for what they can do, not how they look. ๐Ÿฅฐ

But others warn that diet culture is not dead, but rather evolving into more subtle and sinister forms. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ They say that some companies are using terms like โ€œwellnessโ€ and โ€œlifestyleโ€ to disguise their weight-loss agenda, and that some people are resorting to drugs or surgery to achieve their desired body shape. ๐Ÿ˜จ

So, what can we do to reject diet culture and embrace body positivity? ๐Ÿค” As a weight loss coach, I think we need to educate ourselves and others about the dangers of strict dieting, and the benefits of eating well and moving joyfully. ๐Ÿ’ช We need to challenge the messages that tell us we are not good enough unless we lose weight, and celebrate our diversity and uniqueness. ๐ŸŽ‰ We need to support each other in our journeys towards health and happiness, not judge or shame anyone for their choices or appearance. ๐Ÿค—

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with me? Have you ever tried Jenny Craig or any other weight-loss program? How did it make you feel? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! ๐Ÿ‘‡
